Slipping towards where we don’t want to go

We see a doc! The blood results are in – haemaglobin down by .1. If it had been up by .1 I would have cheered but it’s down. Again. And it’s the ‘again’ that is significant. It’s such a small number, insignificant in itself but after a year it’s clearly part of an inexorable trend to where we don’t want it to go.

.1 in the right direction smiley face, .1 in the wrong direction sad face. But .2 doesn’t change who God is. And it doesn’t concern the doc too much: “steadyish wobbling”.

We ask at what point we need to think about changing treatment. Doc advises that we should start thinking about it when it’s been confirmed that the haemaglobin is in the low 12s and then change treatment when Husband is clearly symptomatic and haemaglobin is in the 10s or 11s.

What do we change to? Acalabrutinib. That seems different to previous advice (Zanubrutinib). It’s a bit confusing but at least there are ‘nibs’ available.
